4 Athletes Selected for EYOF

Four athletes from NI & Ulster have been named as part of the 16-strong Athletics Ireland team for the Summer European Youth Olympic Festival.

The Olympic Federation of Ireland have named thirty-three athletes who will compete across seven sports in the Summer European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF), from 25th- 31st July. Athletics will have the biggest representation, with sixteen athletes set to travelling to Slovakia. The multi-sport event that is aimed at athletes aged 14-17 years, will take place in Banska Bystrica, Slovakia.

The EYOF is a prestigious event that plays an important role in the development of an athlete, replicating the Olympic Games model. It is run biennially, with the summer event ordinarily run on the alternate year to the winter EYOF. This year’s event was originally scheduled for July 2021 and was moved in line with the postponed Tokyo Olympics.

NI & Ulster Athletes selected:

  • Amy-Jo Kierans (Oriel AC) Medley Relay
  • Cormac Crotty (Annalee AC) Medley Relay
  • Lucy Foster (Willowfield Harriers) 1500m
  • Toby Thompson (Ballymena & Antrim AC) 200m, Medley Relay
