Attention Throws Coaches

This Saturday, 27th January Goldie Sayers will travel to Northern Ireland to deliver a Performance Lifestyle Seminar to Youth Academy Athletes. A three-time Olympian, British javelin record holder and 11 time UK Champion, Goldie has dominated her event and is one of athletics’ most popular ambassadors.

As well as this, Goldie will deliver a technical analysis/discussion on javelin at 9am followed by mobility and medicine ball practical at 10.30am at the University of Ulster, Jordanstown.

At the Beijing Olympics in 2008 Goldie broke the British record, missing a podium place by just 38cm. She is due to be awarded the bronze medal following a positive doping test by the Russian athlete who finished ahead of her. In the run-up to the London Olympics she confirmed her position as a medal prospect when she broke her own British record at the London Diamond League with an opening throw of 66.17m

Goldie will work directly with Youth Academy and Event Group Throwers and Multi Eventers and their coaches but other coaches are welcome to attend and observe.

At 2pm on Saturday Loughborough based athlete and coach Zane Duquemin will observe Youth Academy Multi Eventers as they compete in the indoor shot competition at UU.

After the competition, Zane will offer his analysis and deliver a shot putt workshop for these athletes and their coaches. GB athlete Zane has a Discus PB of 63.46m & Shot PB of 19.42m and coaches one of the most successful throwing squads in the country at Loughborough University.

Additional shot /javelin coaches wishing to attend and observe these technical sessions should email to laura@athleticsni.org to inform of your attendance.
