BORN2RUN Scoop Gold at The Running Awards

The 2018 Running Awards were held last Thursday in London’s O2 Arena and homegrown event organisers BORN2RUN Events returned with not one, but two major awards.

The Running Awards were established to recognise and reward excellence in all things running related with awards for clothing, footwear, wearable tech and events.

BORN2RUN were shortlisted in 3 categories and were delighted to be awarded the Gold in the Event Series category and the Bronze in the 5K category. This is a huge achievement for BORN2RUN particularly winning the Gold award where they had to fight off some seriously stiff competition from such major events as The Great Run series and the Run For Life series.

The awards are widely considered to be the yardstick by which the best of the best are measured. They are totally independent and voted for by runners. BORN2RUN Events acknowledges the support of the Northern Irish running community in voting them into the top slot.

‘We have a very loyal community of runners who attend all of our races’ said Carol McMenamin of BORN2RUN ‘They have voted in their droves to get us this award and for that we are truly grateful, our marshals and support crew are all runners themselves and we feel it is them that make our races special so we owe them all big time for helping to make this happen’.

The Gold award for The Event Series was awarded for BORN2RUN’s Belfast Telegraph Run Forest Run Series which is a series of 8 races all held in beautiful forests around Northern Ireland. BORN2RUN’s motto is Great Races in Great Places and the series included such scenic locations as Tollymore Forest Park, Gosford Forest Park and Antrim Castle Gardens to name but a few. The bronze award they won was for the best races in the 5K category and it was their RUN FOREST RUN Castlewellan race that won them this award.
