City of Lisburn AC and Lagan Valley AC celebrate Team Trophy wins

City of Lisburn AC and Lagan Valley AC topped the respective male and female standings as athletes descended on the Mary Peters Track in Belfast for Round 3 of the Team Trophy last weekend (Saturday 11th August 2018).

Their performances led both teams to overall victories in the prestigious three round Team Trophy event.

British indoor Champion Megan Marrs (City of Lisburn AC) was the star act on the final day’s competition, but even her emphatic win in the 100m could not stop the Lagan Valley AC ladies taking the win, with the Belfast club finishing on 117 points and City of Lisburn AC ending the day on 111 points.

This secured a comprehensive team trophy victory for Lagan Valley AC, who won all three rounds and finished on 289 points (1st place).  City of Lisburn AC took 2nd place with 225 points and North Down AC completed the top three with 22 points (3rd place).

It was a similar story in the men’s event, with City of Lisburn AC winning Round 3 and completing a clean sweep, having topped the standings at the previous two rounds.  They finished on 248 points (1st place), with North Down AC (64 points) and Derry Track Club (39 points) taking 2nd place and 3rd place respectively.
