Leinster Champs and Euro Indoor Preview

Ciara Mageean (UCD / Jerry Kiernan) will be feeling confident going into this week's European Indoor Championships in Belgrade following an impressive 2.03.73 clocking to win the Leinster 800m Championships in Abbottstown yesterday.

Her negative split last 400m of 61s suggests the Portaferry athlete will have great strength over the 1500m distance that she and fellow Olympian Kerry O'Flaherty will tackle on Friday.

Irish Champion Ben Reynolds also goes on Friday in Belgrade and has a potential of three rounds in the one day. The North Down athlete will at the very least need to beat his PB of 7.73 to challenge for a place in the final.

Queensland Championships, Australia
In her last weekend of her successful stint in Australia, Amy Foster (City of Lisburn / Davy Reid) took two silver medals over 100m (11.72 0.3) and 200m in less than ideal wind conditions.

England Age Group Championships, Sheffield
Sommer Lecky (Finn Valley / Niall Wilkinson) took a dominant victory in the U20 women's high jump with 1.79m, yet another consideration standard for the Commonwealth Youth Games in Nassau, Bahamas.

Meanwhile 2015 Commonwealth Youth Games double medallist Ben Fisher (City of Lisburn / Annie Rose) is looking to be back to his best after a long battle with injury. The Youth Academy athlete finished 4th in the U20 men's Long Jumps with a best of 7.05m.

Lauren Roy (City of Lisburn / John McAdorey) finished 5th in the U17 Women's 60m in 7.66 and also ran an indoor 200m PB of 25.16.
