NI U17 Team win Bronze at the Junior Inter County Fell Championship 2017

14 June 2017

Seven of Northern Ireland's top junior athletes travelled to Lancashire, England for the British Junior Inter Counties Fell Running Championship last weekend (Saturday 10th June 2017).

The Under 17 Boys team excelled, returning with bronze medals, after taking on strong opposition from across Great Britain as athletes chased selection for the European Championships in July.

St Malachy’s AC duo Tony McCambridge and Conall McClean and Willowfield Harriers' Andrew Hagen performed to a high standard, showing huge potential. Tony claimed 4th place, with Conall taking 7th place - Andrew completed the team in 23rd place.

The collective performances of Conall, Tony and Andrew saw the boys secure a bronze medal after finishing in 3rd place in the team competition. A significant achievement for the local athletes and team manager Phil Hodge when taking into consideration the level of competition involved.
