Athletics NI launch new workshop to assist with delivery of successful Couch to 2 5k programmes

This workshop aims to address the needs of local councils, clubs, coaches and other program facilitators regarding the successful organisation of a Couch to 5K program.  Running Participation Officer Allister Woods will discuss registration process, maximising exposure, recruitment of running leaders, progressing the programme and the runner pathway.  Allister will also be joined by Country Manager for Parkrun Ireland and Waterworks Parkrun organiser Matt Shields.  The pair will explain how objectives and targets of Couch to 5K programs vary based on the needs of the group.

The nature of the workshop will allow facilitators, coaches and clubs to familiarise themselves with the organisation of safe facilities, graduation events and develop links to local running groups or clubs prior to establishing their own Couch to 5K Program.  Coaches will be provided with a case study of the most successful Couch 2 5k Programmes on the night.

Please note: The workshop is designed for those who aim to set up their own adult participation program in the New Year.

The workshop will being promptly at 7.00pm in the Les Jones Room at Mary Peters Track concluding at 9.00pm on Wednesday 7th December 2016.
