NI International Fionnuala Ross Secures Scottish 10K Gold

Northern Ireland international Fionnuala Ross (Armagh AC / Shettleston Harries) secured a personal best of 33:59 when claiming gold at the Scottish 10k (Road) Championship in Stirling this weekend (Sunday 10th September 2017).

Meanwhile, in Newcastle (England), at the famous Great North Run Half Marathon (Sunday 10th September 2017), Clonliffe Harriers man Stephen Scullion ran 1:05:52 to lead the hundreds, if not thousands, of local athletes home; this was enough to secure 14th place.

Newcastle AC’s Eoghan Totten, the current NI & Ulster 10,000m Champion, also made the top twenty with a personal best of 1:07:21 for 19th place. North Belfast Harriers man Andrew Annett clocked an excellent 1:09:21 for 28th place in the highly competitive men’s elite field.

In New York (USA), at the 5th Avenue Mile (Sunday 10th September 2017), Ciara Mageean (UCD AC) was again in action over the classic mile distance. After recording 4:35 at the Long Island Mile last week, the NI record holder crossed the line in 4:41 for 5th place.  The race was won by Jenny Simpson in 4:16.
