Newcastle AC’s Eoghan Totten and Derry Track Club’s Marina Murphy were crowned NI & Ulster 10,000m Champions after strong performances at the sun-soaked Mary Peters Track (Saturday 8th July 2017).

In warm conditions, Eoghan made his intentions clear from the gun, moving to the front and quickly extending his lead.  The gap increased as the race progressed, but the young athlete did not let up on his relentless pace – he continued to work until he crossed the line in 31:29.23 (1st place).  Club mate David O’Flaherty (Newcastle AC) took the runners up spot in 32:05.42, before Dromore AC’s Stephen O’Gorman completed the top three in 33:38.08 (3rd place).

There was no competition for Marina Murphy in the ladies race – however, the Derry Track Club athlete took the race on, battling well throughout, and was rewarded with an excellent winning time of 38:27.68 (1st place).
