Throughout the summer Athletics NI & the Ulster Athletics Council have been closely monitoring the situation with regard to Covid 19 and its implications for a possible return to competition and in particular the running of Regional Championships in 2020. It has already been decided by Athletics Ireland that there will be no National Championships for Age Group athletes this year however it is hoped that subject to Government Guidelines and UKA Licencing that the NI & Ulster Championships for U14-U17 will take place on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th August. Given the current guidelines this poses particular difficulties and it has therefore been necessary to introduce specific measures in order to make such an event possible. We are therefore implementing a set of entry criteria for each event and would ask clubs and athletes not to enter a event unless there is confidence that these standards can be met. It should be noted that the intention is not to deprive athletes from competition but rather it is felt that athletes not capable of achieving these standards would be be better served by more appropriate competition at a local level. In order to facilitate the adherence to the standards athletes/clubs should be aware that in field events jumps or throws below the standards will not be measured or recorded just as anyone not clearing an opening height in the High Jump would not appear in results. It is also envisaged that in all track events results will be based on time trials and that no finals will be held
Athletes must check in for all events if they intend to compete in. Failure to do this will result in disqualification. Competitors must report no later than 60 minutes before each event. This rule will be strictly enforced.
Please note that this is NOT a qualification event. Athletes aged U17,18,19 may compete in the National Championships provided they have entered those events in the Regional Championships as per the Championship Entry Policy.
All athletes aged U17 and up can enter 4 events.
All entries are subject to the Championship Entry Policy, which can be found here.
Temperature checks will be taken at the event.
