Ciara Mageean Breaks Irish Record at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix

Fresh from the Athletics NI Warm Weather Endurance Training Camp in Murcia, Team New Balance athlete Ciara Mageean had an impressive start to her year at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston, USA by breaking her own Irish Record.

Ciara broke the Record for 1 Mile in a time of 4 mins & 28:31secs, taking .09 secs from her previous record, which she set in New York 3 years ago. She ran cautiously in the early stages of a classy international race and was in 4th position with 200 metres remaining.

The 26 year old was the Captain for the Northern Irish team at the Commonwealth Games last summer in the Gold Coast Australia and will be greatly encouraged by this early season performance with her main aim being the World Championships in Doha in October.
