GB & NI Paralympic Coach Joe McDonnell to guest coach at Parallel Success day

Athletics NI will host a Para Coaching day on Sunday 18th November at Mary Peters Track, Belfast.  One of British Athletics top Paralympic coaches, Joe McDonnell, will lead a Para Athletics ‘Try-It’ session for ambulant children (Cerebral Palsy, Prosthetics / Amputees) followed by the Parallel Success sprints session in the afternoon.

Joe (originally from Dublin) has been coaching Paralympic athletes for 18 years. During this time, he has coached three Paralympic Gold Medallists, four World Champions and two of the athletes he coaches are current World Record Holders (Sophie Hahn T38 100m & 200m; Libby Clegg T11 100m & 200m).

The Junior Para ‘Try-It’ session is designed for 8-11 year olds and will run from 10:00am – 11:30am. The Parallel Success sprints session (for age 12+) will take place from 1230hrs – 1500hrs.  This session is open for Athletics NI coaches to come along, gain knowledge and share ideas on working with para athletes.
