Leavy bursts onto Para Middle Distance Scene Following Classification Race Victory in Rieti

Rio Paralympic footballer David Leavy (City of Lisburn / Ian Neely) has confirmed his successful transition to Para Athletics by winning the 1500m classification race in Rieti last weekend. 

The T38 athlete has wintered well amongst training partners Craig Newell and Kelly Neely and led from gun to tape posting 4.25.35, some 12 seconds better than his 2017 best. This time is a qualifier for August’s European Para Championships in Berlin and ranks David in the top 6 in Europe.
