Mageean Back On Track this Weekend in Boston

City of Lisburn AC’s and World 1500m Finalist, Ciara Mageean is set to compete at Saturday’s New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston.

This will be the Portaferry native’s first race of 2020, after a very successful previous year, including breaking her Northern Irish 1500m Outdoor record at the World Championship Finals in Doha.

Her 2020 has already got off to a good start and she was awarded the Belfast Telegraph’s Player of the Year (Gold Section) at their recent Sports Awards.

Ciara will no doubt use the indoor season to prepare herself for the summer’s major outdoor competitions, which will include this year’s Tokyo Olympic Games in August.

Elsewhere this weekend…

Mark McKinstry (North Belfast Harriers) is back to defend his NI & Ulster Masters title, with a strong North Belfast Harriers team behind him, no doubt hoping to retain their Masters trophy. They will be up against strong competition from last year’s Intermediate Men’s winners, Newcastle & District AC, along with City of Derry Spartans, Finn Valley AC, Annadale Striders and Willowfield Harriers, to name a few.
