NEW BALANCE SIGN ON FOR ATHLETICS DEAL
13 March 2018
Athletics Northern Ireland has agreed a new partnership with New Balance which will see Northern Ireland’s leading athletes wear their specially-designed competition kit at next month’s Commonwealth Games in Australia.
The deal, which will see New Balance supply the team wear for future Northern Ireland and Ulster athletics teams, was officially launched on Monday at the Mary Peters Track in Belfast by Gold Coast-bound trio Adam McMullen, Sommer Lecky, Jack Agnew and Amy Foster.
Athletics Northern Ireland 's General Secretary John Allen believes the tie-in with the Boston-based sportswear manufacturer can help push the sport forward Down Under – and beyond.
“We’re delighted to have the long-term backing of New Balance in supporting athletics in Northern Ireland,” Allen said.
“It links into our drive for excellence and to promote a positive, vibrant image for track and field.
“We look forward to seeing our athletes sporting the kit when they depart for our training camp at Somerset College on the Gold Coast next week, and when they get into action at the Commonwealth Games.”
13 Northern Irish athletes will head to Australia as part of Team NI.
“New Balance are thrilled to partner with Athletics Northern Ireland,” said New Balance’s senior marketing manager for performance, Pete Riley.
“We’re delighted to launch the kit at this very exciting time as the team begin their final preparations for the Commonwealth Games.”
