Ulster University Speed-Power Academy To Commence in October 2018
17 July 2018
Athletics NI, in partnership with Ulster University are delighted to launch the "Ulster University Speed-Power Academy" with the aim to bridge the gap between our Rising Stars and Youth Academy initiatives by creating an environment for our athletes (aged 15-21) to supplement their current club training with appropriate speed development and physical preparation sessions.
We aim to build robust young athletes with physical competency, good sprint mechanics and elasticity, helping them to achieve their athletic potential. We aim to expose young athletes and their coaches to what we believe to be best practice athletic development sessions and increase the number of athletes that are being exposed to content designed for Athletics NI’s Youth Academy.
We hope this will increase the standard of athlete emerging to enter Youth Academy and/or Ulster University Athletics Club in future years. The Ulster University Speed-Power Academy will run throughout the year, beginning in October 2018, based at the Jordanstown Campus on Friday afternoons for a maximum of 12 athletes.
Time: 4.30-5.30pm (Track-Based) & 5.30-6.30pm (Gym-Based)
