Deep RiverRock Belfast City Half Marathon Needs You to Volunteer
16 August 2017
On Sunday 17th September, close to 3,500 participants will set off on their 13.1 mile journey from Ormeau Park in a bid to complete the 5th Deep RiverRock Belfast City Half Marathon.
Claire O’Neill (Event Manager, Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon) says, “It is crucial that our participants experience ease of access, good direction and plenty of refreshment opportunities around the Half Marathon route”.
Each year a highly skilled team pull together to ensure operations run as smoothly as possible on the day. Despite this, Claire says, “quite simply we could not provide the biggest Half Marathon in Northern Ireland without our dedicated volunteers”.
Wayne Crowe has been volunteering as a Team Leader for both the Full Marathon and Half Marathon events since 2013.
Wayne says, “It all started when I went to the London Olympics and felt the buzz surrounding such a huge sporting event. I could see how hard the volunteers worked to help participants and ensure the visitors enjoyed their experience. Ultimately the aim for me by volunteering is to give back to our community. Through the 5 years volunteering for the Belfast Half and Full Marathon events, I have met some amazing and interesting people, made great friends and developed news skills. Not to mention, I’ve had a lot of fun!”
Are you like Wayne? Is running your passion? Do you like organising and helping people? Do you love being part of a team? The Deep RiverRock Belfast City Half Marathon needs you to assist in the following roles – Route Marshall (directing runners), Water Stations Team and Pack & Prizes Team.
