NI Athletes selected for European Road Running Championships

The Irish team for the European Road Running Championships was announced at the weekend.
James Gormley (Carmen) following his strong performance in the recent Valencia 10k has been selected for the men’s 10k team. This will be James’s third time representing Ireland in 2025 following his European and World Indoor selections.
Emily Haggard Kearney (NBH) gains a place on the women’s 10k team. A recent 5k road pb at the Podium Festival and a good run at the Pulford 10k last weekend was enough to secure selection. Ann-Marie McGlynn (Letterkenny) who has shown great recent form on the roads is Ireland’s sole female competitor in the Half Marathon event. She Joins Hannah Irwin who has already been selected for the GB Half Marathon team.
Additionally, between March 27th and March 29th there were some encouraging early outdoor performance in the US from Cara Laverty (Finn Valley) and Anna Gardner (East Down). Both running for Providence in the Prestigious Raleigh Relays dipped under the B standard for their respective U23 and U20 European Championships which will be held later this summer.
