O'Flaherty battles it out in the 3000m Steeplechase Final

In the Women's steeplechase final Ireland had an unprecedented 3 athletes all of whom will be competing in Rio. The trio of Kerry O'Flaherty from Newcastle, Michelle Finn and Sara Treacy were locked together with 400 metres remaining. Kerry then attempted to break away but was caught by Finn went on to record a PB of 9 mins 43.19 secs for 7th place.

Kerry then battled it out with Treacy who managed to overtake runners in the last few metres for 9th place in 9.45.19. The blanket finish relegated Kerry to 12th in 9.45.88 which was marginally slower than her semi final time.
