Sprint Finish at the Belfast City Half Marathon 2023

Last weekend (Sunday 17th September) saw the Belfast City Half Marathon which had 5,000 participants, a record number on the event’s 10th anniversary.

There was an exciting sprint finish for the men’s title between Eskander Turki (Annadale Striders) and Conan McCaughey (North Belfast Harriers) who are both on the Athletics NI Endurance Potential Programme, which is supported by the Belfast City Marathon. Eskander came out on top in 1:09:10 and Conan in 1:09:12, followed by Gary Slevin (Foyle Valley AC) in 1:10:52.

The women’s winner was Ann Marie McGlynn (Letterkenny AC) who won in 1:14:53, with second place going to Gladys Ganiel (North Belfast Harriers) in 1:16.17 and Caitlyn Harvey (RoadRunners AC) 1:18:34, who is also on the Endurance Potential Project.

Jayne Bleakley won the Wheelchair race in a time of 01:41:39.
