Bashir Hussain to deliver Pilot Fell Trail LIRF Course

On Saturday 15th October, 2016 Coach Bashir Hussain will deliver Northern Irelands first Fell/Trail Leadership in Running Fitness course at the Mary Peters Track.

Athletics NI Coach Development Lead Laura Kerr explained, “Bashir is a Level 4 Endurance Coach as well as a lead tutor and assessor for England Athletics and holds an MSC in Biomechanics and Sports Coaching from Manchester Metropolitan University.  He has had an illustrious marathon, cross country and fell running career.  Bashir has competed for GB and England across a range of endurance events from 3000m – marathon. His achievements as an athlete include winning the 1998 UK Trail Running Championships and 2006 World Masters Championships in 1500m and 3000m.”

"The Fell / Trail LiRF is an off road contextualised version of the standard LiRF. It is a one day course with no assessment and then provides insurance cover to take groups (aged 12 and over) running off road. It covers why people run, warm ups, main sessions, cool downs, some drills, uphill and downhill running technique, introductions, instruction, demonstration, safety, energy systems, planning and barriers." 

Please note: The course has a maximum capacity of 18 and as per LIRF the cost of each spot is £110.


You can only secure places when we receive payment by cheque or card as well as the completed application form and validation form. If your club is paying for you place on the course you must provide us with the name and email address of the club treasurer or secretary, your place will then be reserved once we receive t their details.

This course is advisable for those who are working on participation running programmes or with athletes who train off track on a variety of different surfaces/gradients.
