East Coast AC achieve Sport NI Clubmark Status

Athletics NI’s Tom Crick presents East Coast AC’s Clubmark certificate to Justin Maxwell, Mark McManus and Marie Glover.

East Coast AC recently became only the 12th Athletics club in Northern Ireland to achieve Sport NI’s Clubmark status. Clubmark is a quality assurance scheme that aims to identify, develop, accredit and recognise high quality junior sports clubs and the contribution they make to the development of sport in Northern Ireland.

Over a period of almost a year East Coast AC worked with Athletics NI staff to collect the required evidence and undertook a full assessment of their coaching structures and delivery. The club provides a safe and welcoming multi event programme for participants, while also offering a quality environment for talented young athletes to grow and develop.

Athletics NI’s Coach Development Lead Laura Kerr said, “Athletics NI have been impressed by the quality of coaching and administration at the club and are delighted to award East Coast AC with their Clubmark certification.”

East Coast AC’s Chairman Justin Maxwell said, “Over the past three years we have worked hard to build a strong foundation for East Coast AC, something that will not only benefit our club but also the local area, now and in the future. I am very proud that we have achieved Clubmark status, but the work does not stop here. We are determined to build towards our future goals and the development of both our athletes and club."
