Acorns AC and Omagh Harriers clear winners at Mighty Oaks XC

23 November 2016

Acorns A.C. and Omagh Harriers were clear winners of the Athletics Northern Ireland Cross Country league men’s and women’s divisions respectively following the Mighty Oaks event in Cookstown last Saturday. However given that clubs have the ability to discard their worst two pre Christmas scores it seems a number of teams chose to miss out this event so allowing some of the previously less prominent clubs to score significantly better than in previous rounds.

In the Women’s division North Down are still well clear with 104 points though Acorns have moved into second place with 69.   In the Men’s division North Belfast Harriers did not compete in Cookstown and North Down have closed to within 5 points on them (75 to 70).

The next league event will be the MALCOLM CUP RACES on 3rd December hosted by Annadale Striders in Ballyclare. Following this event league scores could alter significantly as a team’s worst score can be ignored.
