SSE Airtricity Walled City Marathon

Eric Koegh took full advantage of the absent defending champion Freddy Sittuk, to win a race long duel with fellow Kenyan Dan Tunai , in hot and humid conditions his impressive 2hrs 23m 47s got him across the Guildhall Square finish line just 3 seconds ahead.

Donegal runner Ciaran McGonagle of Rosses AC claimed third on 2hrs 41m 24s as 1200 finishers were recorded at the fourth staging of the popular Derry race.

Defending womens champion Pauline Curley of Tullamore Harriers narrowly beat her 2015  winning time by in romping to a facile win in 2hrs 47m 20s....an impressive 5th overall. Yorkshire's Hanna Oldroyd took the runner up spot in 2hrs 56m 14s with Strabane woman Claire McGuigan clocking a PB of 3hrs 7m 13s in third.
