Discovery Centre Oxford Island

25 August 2019 » 25 August 2019

Start Time: 11am

Online Entries will close on Thursday 22nd August at 4pm.

Online Entry

St Peter's AC is delighted you have chosen to take part in our Lurgan Lakes & Lough Event on Sunday 25th August at the picturesque Oxford Island.  Your entry fee will help provide a donation to charity and club funds.  The charity this year is The Mandeville Cancer Unit in Craigavon.  The event is taking place with the kind permission of the Armagh, Banbridge, and Craigavon Council.  We appreciate their support in making it happen.

Your entry includes the following:

  • A beautiful medal
  • Individual Chip timing
  • Race Number
  • Goodie Bag

Race Number Collection

Race packs can be collected on Friday 23rd August between 6pm – 8pm from Goodyear Sports and Social Club, Silverwood Road, Craigavon BT66 6LN.  Also on the day of the event from 9:30 to 10:30am at the Lough Neagh Discovery Centre, Oxford Island.  Because some of the Oxford Island car parks are up to 1 mile from the Discovery Centre; we would request that as many race packs as possible are collected from Goodyear on the Friday night.  This will really help avoid everyone having to go the distance from their cars to collect their race number and then return to get ready, before heading back up to the start!

Race Start Times

  • 10 Mile ‘Lakes & Lough’ Run: 11.00am
  • 5 k ‘Rock The Lough’ Run: 11.10 am

10 Mile and 5k Routes

Both events start and finish at the Discovery Centre, Oxford Island.  The routes are very flat – with only a few minor hills.  The 5k event is wholly within the boundaries of Oxford Island and is mainly over the Island trails, offering great views of Lough Neagh.  The 10 mile event will involve running on the road for the first 2 miles, with miles 3 to 7 on paths to and around the Craigavon Lakes.  Then it is back to Oxford Island where the race will continue through the trails to the finish.

Footwear

The course is a mixture of tarmac and forest paths. Running shoes are suitable for all the terrain.

Parking

There are a number of Car Parks across Oxford Island.  We will have car park attendants available to direct traffic.  Please note that some of the car parks are up to a mile from the starting point of the event at the Discovery Centre.  If you could car share too it would really help avoid traffic congestion and the possibility of the event being delayed. Please park safely and do not cause an obstruction, as you may be blocking runners, members of the public as well as emergency services.  Please follow the instructions given by the car park attendants.

Toilets

Toilets are available in the Discovery Centre at Oxford Island.  There are toilets also at the Kinnego Marina Camp Site – please note that this is 1 mile from the starting point of the event at the Discovery Centre.

Pets

I’m sorry, but no pets allowed at this event.

Water Stations

For the 10 mile run there will be 2 water stations after 3 and 6 miles.  For the 5k there will no water stations.
