St Marys Park Beragh
20 April 2019 » 20 April 2019
Start Time: 11am
The 2019 Beragh 5 Mile Road Race and 5K Fun Run/Walk takes place at 11am on Easter Saturday (April 20).
Hundreds of runners and walkers of all ages abilities are expected to pound the roads around the village, which as always, includes two separate routes through the scenic Mid Tyrone countryside.
Based at Beragh Red Knight’s St Mary’s Park GAA grounds, the fully chip-timed race continues to attract some of the best running talent across the region.
This year’s event will see the introduction of a series of new prizes for the increasingly popular 5K circuit.
Race co-ordinator Adrian Donnelly said inclusivity remains at the heart of the popular event.
“A tremendous effort goes in to organising the Beragh 5 every year. While this is a race organised by a committee of experienced runners, it’s a truly inclusive community event, offering something for all ages and abilities.
“We’ve recognised the growing popularity of our 5K circuit, so this year, we’re introducing a series of prizes, including a new award for breaking the 5K course record,” he added.
This year’s Beragh 5 will recognise the important work of Beragh and Sixmilecross community first responders. The local organisation is the nominated charity for this year’s race.
Steel fabrication specialists Capital Reinforcing will be the event’s main sponsor for 2019.
Registration for both events takes place on Friday April 19 from 7-9pm, and from 9am on race day (April 20) in St Mary’s Park Pavilion.
Entry fee for the five mile run is £10 and £7 for the 5K. Both routes are fully marshalled chip-timed.
The first 200 to register for the five mile event will receive the official 2019 Beragh 5 T-shirt, with head buffs for the first 250 5K entrants.
A prize will be on offer for breaking Kenyan athlete Vincent Kiprotich’s 24:51 five mile course record and Matthew Neil’s 16:37 5K record.
