Pack Collection

Pack collection will be available on the morning of the event between 7.45 and 8.45am. We are also holding a pack collection at the Valley parkrun event https://www.parkrun.org.uk/valley/ on Saturday 25th March. Packs will be available for collection here between 8.30 and 11am. On either occasion please have your race confirmation email to hand in order to receive your pack. 

 Transport

There is ample free parking at the Zoo car parks  and we will have car park marshals to assist, but please consider car pooling and public transport where possible. From Belfast Europa bus station, service 1e departs Upper Queen Street at 7.40 and arrives at Belfast Zoo at 08:12.

 Spectators

Spectators can now avail of the half price entry to the Zoo by phone or by calling in person. Please call 028 9077 6277 and ask for  Monkstown Spartans Mane Event discount. Spectators will be limited to dedicated zones (marked on map on website) : https://www.monkstownspartans.co.uk/course-map while the run is underway, after which runners and spectators will have full access to the Zoo facilities for the rest of the day, with the exception of the Lions Den Cafe which is reserved for finish arena until 11am.

Spectators entry is from 8.15am and all spectators must be in place by 9am.

Bag drop

We will be providing a bag drop from the start area to the finish arena at the Lions Den Cafe. Spectators are also able to take bags to the designated spectator zones. 

Run requirements

The run is chip timed by Championchip. The run starts outside the Zoo gates and finishes at the lions den cafe (see course map for run route: https://www.monkstownspartans.co.uk/course-map) The run is 5k, no water stations are available (bottled water is available at the finish arena) There is a cut off time of 1 hour, any runner beyond this time will be allocated a time of 59.59.  The run is well marshaled and paramedics are at hand.

The finish arena

Runners will finish at the Lions Den cafe,   this is a spectator free zone until 11am. Medals and goodie bags will be received here and dropped off bags collected. Free post run massages from Limbs of Glory  https://www.limbsofglory.co.uk/ will be available until 11am.  

With the exception of bottled water we are unable to provide post-run refreshments, runners and spectators can bring their own refreshments and the food establishments will be open after the run. 

Runners will make their way to the playground spectator zone through a one-way traffic system to avoid overcrowding at the finish arena.
