Gareth King Selected for Team GB for IAU 100k World Championships

Northern Ireland’s Gareth King has been selected as part of an eight strong team to represent GB & NI at the IAU 100k World Championships, held in Berlin, Germany on 27th August.

After one of the most competitive 100k races ever seen in the country at the annual Anglo Celtic Plate Home Countries International with seven men breaking the seven-hour barrier and three women under eight-hours, GB & NI will field a strong team in the German capital later this year.

Northern Ireland’s Gareth King was fourth at the trial in a time of 6:47:33 to earn his first international vest, as well as breaking both the NI & Ulster and Irish records

Team Leader Walter Hill said, “After a trial race of high-quality, we are very pleased to be selecting such a strong British team to compete at the 100km World Championships later in the summer.

“The racing at the Anglo Celtic Plate Home Countries International shows that ultra-running is in a very strong position in the country for both men and women, so we are really looking forward to heading to Berlin to take on the best in the world in August.”
