Northern Ireland and Ulster athletes are set to be represented on two major stages in early May after Athletics Ireland and NIMRA confirmed their selections for upcoming international competition. A number of local athletes have earned places on Ireland’s team for the 2026 World Relay Championships in Botswana, while others will pull on the NI and Ulster vest for the Inter-Counties Mountain Race.

This weekend marked the closing stages of the 2026 indoor season, with Day 1 of the Irish Juvenile Indoor Championships taking place in Athlone and the European Masters Championships being held in Toruń, Poland. Both championships proved hugely successful for our local athletes and clubs, with impressive performances and medals across the board.

From O’Connor to Gormley, each athlete delivered a fantastic performance, gaining invaluable experience to complement their already impressive achievements.

Blessed with a bright, sunny Saturday, the course provided the perfect backdrop for a showcase of grit, endurance, and exceptional athletic prowess.
