Many of our top age group athletes competed this weekend at the Tailteann Games in Carlow. This is one of the oldest events on the athletics calendar and serves as a trial for selection to the SIABS athletics International which will be held in Belfast on the 18th of July.

Athletics NI are pleased to announce the Northern Ireland team that will compete in the forthcoming Commonwealth Games which will be held in Glasgow from the 23rd of July.

The NI and Ulster Senior Track and Field Championships provided athletes with one final opportunity to impress Commonwealth Games selectors or secure late qualification standards. Although difficult blustery conditions scuppered any fast times, the weekend still produced a number of outstanding performances across the track and field events.

The Ulster Schools Track and Field Championships took place over two action-packed days this year, attracting more than 500 athletes from across the province. As one of the largest events on the local athletics calendar, the championships showcased some of the region’s top young sporting talent in a highly competitive atmosphere.
