Megan Marrs Selected to Represent Great Britain and Northern Ireland at World Cup

British Athletics has announced 29 athletes set to compete at the Athletics World Cup on home soil at the London Stadium on 14-15 July.
The competition format featuring all field and track events up to and including the 1500m will star the world’s eight leading athletics nations over those disciplines: USA, Great Britain & Northern Ireland, Poland, China, Germany, France, Jamaica and South Africa. The ground-breaking two-day event takes place under floodlights across Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 July at the London Stadium.
British Indoor 60m Hurdles Champion Megan Marrs (Jerzy Maciukiewicz) has been selected in the Women’s 100m Hurdles after finishing second at the recent British Championships in Birmingham. The City of Lisburn AC athlete, who came through the Athletics NI Youth Academy system, will be looking to further extend her recent PB of 13.32, set at the Belfast International Meet last month, when she takes to the Olympic Stadium this weekend.
As well as competing for a PB and possibly breaking the NI record, held my Dame Mary Peters, Megan will be competing for maximum points in her event as well as keeping the team competition in mind. There is a huge prize pot in the Athletics World Cup with each individual athlete in the overall winning team will receive $10,000. Each individual athlete from the nation finishing as runners-up will receive $8,888 with third receiving $7,777 all the way down to seventh receiving $3,333 each and eighth receiving $2,200.
NI & Ulster Teams Named for Upcoming U20 and Combined Events Internationals
Welsh U20 International, Swansea 25th July
Athletics NI and Ulster Athletics will be taking an U20 team of eight athletes to compete in the Welsh International at the end of this month including Lauren Roy who is currently out at the World Juniors with the Irish 4x100m team and multi eventer Anna McCauley who represented Team NI at the Commonwealth Youth Games Team in 2017.

Home Countries CE International & England Age Group CE Championships, Manchester 4/5th August
Athletics NI in conjunction with Ulster Athletics will be sending two senior athletes as well as three development athletes who show strong potential in combined events to the combined events meeting in Manchester.
The team will be led by Brunel University based Sarah Connolly who has won Senior Scottish and Irish Indoor Pentathlon titles in 2018 and has as SB of 4758 set last weekend when finishing 2nd at the South of England Heptathlon Championships.
