Supporting Mental Wellbeing in Athletics with TAMHI
Athletics Northern Ireland is committed to promoting mental health awareness and wellbeing across all levels of the sport. In partnership with TAMHI (Tackling Awareness of Mental Health Issues), a local charity specialising in mental health education through sport, we are pleased to offer resources, workshops, and support designed specifically for our athletics community.
About TAMHI
TAMHI is a Belfast-based charity dedicated to improving mental health awareness and resilience in sports clubs, schools, and youth groups. Through interactive, games-based learning and tailored support services, TAMHI helps sporting communities break down mental health stigma and build supportive environments for athletes, coaches, and volunteers.
Athletics NI and TAMHI Partnership
As part of this partnership, TAMHI delivered a tutor training workshop to Athletics NI staff, equipping us with innovative, athletics-themed mental health tools such as the “Hurdles of Life” programme and the Text a Teammate support service. We are excited to provide clubs with access to these resources, along with a bespoke mental health toolkit designed for athletics clubs.
