It is a statutory requirement for anyone who works with children to update their knowledge of legislation and guidance and maintain the ability to act on concerns about the safety and welfare of children and young people.
The government guidance states that refresher training should take place at least every three years.
Safeguarding workshops are available from a number of providers including the NSPCC
In addition Athletics NI run workshops approximately 1-2 times a year.
When the dates of workshops run by Athletics NI become available they will be shown below. If no workshops are available please try another provider such as the NSPCC or contact the Athletics NI Welfare Officer Wendy Phillips

A new free on-line Child Safeguarding Refresher course has been launched by Sport NI.
The Safeguarding Refresher course is for individuals who have previously attended a Sport NI Safeguarding Children & Young People in Sport course within the last 3 years. A new certificate will be issued to those who successfully pass the online Safeguarding Refresher course. The on-line course is available at the following link Sport NI Courses
Please note that if you have not attended the classroom based Safeguarding Children & Young People in Sport course within the last 3 years you are not eligible for this refresher course and should attend a workshop at the earliest possible opportunity.
