12 Athletes Invited to UK Schools Games

Congratulations to the 12 athletes from Northern Ireland who have been invited to compete at the UK School Games this week at Loughborough University.

The multi-sport games will welcome 1500 young athletes and a workforce of over 700 coaches and support staff and has a strong track record of providing talented athletes with a springboard to then go on to compete at national level. This year the athletes will compete under the names of the cities which have previously hosted the Olympic Games.
A number of the NI athletes who have previously competed at the UK Schools Games have gone onto the compete at Olympics, Paralympics and Commonwealth Games. The aim of the School Games is to create an inspirational setting for young athletes to experience a high-level competition setting by providing a dedicated Athlete Education Programme, Ceremony, Athlete Village, Accreditation and team kit.
The team will be jointly Manager by Ulster Schools Athletics Association representatives and Athletics NI staff.
