2023 Bobby Rea International Cross-Country NI & Ulster Team Announcement!

The Northern Ireland and Ulster Teams for the Bobby Rea International Cross Country 2023 has been announced.

Many congratulations to the 10 athletes who have been selected to represent Northern Ireland and Ulster in the 2023 Bobby Rea International Cross-Country, which will take place at the Billy Neill Centre of Excellence, Dundonald on 21st October 2023.

Conall McClean (St. Malachy’s AC)

Eskander Turki (Annadale Striders)

Hannah Gilliland (Annadale Striders)

Natasha Adams (Letterkenny AC)

Noeleen Scanlan (Letterkenny AC)

Catherine Whoriskey (City of Derry Spartans)

Catherine O’Connor (East Down AC)

A strong Senior Women’s team will be led by Annadale Striders, Hannah Gilliland, along with Letterkenny’s Natasha Adams and Noeleen Scanlan who both represented their club at the European Club XC Championships in Spain earlier this year. Catherine Whoriskey of City of Derry Spartans will once again be pulling on the NI & Ulster vest in international competition as will East Down’s Catherine O’Connor completing the team having ran well at this year’s Inter Counties XC in Loughborough.

Same can be said for the Senior men’s team which includes City of Derry Spartan’s Conor Bradley, St. Malachy’s Conall McClean and Eskander Turki Eskander Turki of Annadale Striders. All three showed good early season form with strong performances at the recent NI & Ulster 10k Championships in Bangor which was a very close finish! NI & Ulster Senior XC winner Finn McNally returns to the team and completing the team will be Candour Track Clubs Nick Griggs who is coming off a great season which was highlighted by qualifying for the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary in August.

Announcing the team, Athletics NI’s Endurance Coordinator, Mark Kirk, said: ‘’We are pleased to announce these talented and vastly experienced teams for the Bobby Rea International this year, in what will be an extremely competitive event.

We are really looking forward to seeing everyone toe the line on the 21st at the Billy Neill Centre of Excellence and get the 2023 Cross Country underway with some good performances.”
