4 NI Athletes Selected for the European U20 Championships

Four athletes from Northern Ireland have been selected as part of the Athletics Ireland team for the European U20 Championships due to take place in Tallin, Estonia from 15th-18th July 2021.
Orangegrove AC’s Adam Sykes has been selected for the Men’s 4x100m relay team, after the recent Leinster Championships in Carlow, where Adam ran the first leg of the 4x100m relay, and the team finished in 41.18, meeting the qualifying standard.
Lagan Valley AC’s Aoife McGreevy and St Malachy’s AC’s Callum Morgan have both been selected to compete in the 5000m event. Aoife claimed silver at the recent Athletics Ireland Junior and U23 Championships in the Women’s 5000m in a time of 17:02.41, setting a PB in the 5000m of 16:52.53 at the North Belfast Harriers Afternoon of 5000s in May. Callum claimed the bronze medal in the Men’s 5000m at the Athletics Ireland Junior and U23 Championships in the Men’s 5000m and set his PB of 14:33.13 at the BMC Grand Prix in Watford in June.
Mid Ulster AC’s Nick Griggs has been selected to compete in the 3000m event, after his recent performance at the Athletics Ireland Senior Championships, where he won the Junior Men’s 3000m in a Championship Record time of 8:11.15.
This is an excellent opportunity for the Junior athletes to compete on a world stage and will provide them with an amazing international competition experience:
