5 NI & Ulster Athletes Selected for European U23 Championships

Four women and one man from NI & Ulster have been selected as part of the Athletics Ireland team for the European U23 Championships due to take place in Tallinn, Estonia from 8th-11th July 2021.
Irish U23 Pole Vault record holder, Ellie McCartney (City of Lisburn AC); World Junior High Jump Silver Medalist, Sommer Lecky (Finn Valley AC); European Junior Heptathlon Silver Medalist, Kate O’Connor (Dundalk St Gerard’s AC); 2018 World Junior Relay athlete, Lauren Roy (City of Lisburn AC) and Strive Racing Club's Matthew Neil, who ran 29.47 in Belgium on 12th June to secure his place, will join the 30-strong team from Athletics Ireland.
The selection provides the four women with a valuable stepping stone, as they transition from junior to senior international competitions:
