Adams and Reid Debut at European Indoor Championships

Ballymena & Antrim AC’s Dean Adams and Menapians AC’s Leon Reid both debuted at this morning’s European Indoor Championships in Torun, Poland.

Adams and Reid both represented Ireland in the 60m, with 9 ultra-competitive heats meaning only 2 automatic qualifiers went through from each, along with the next 6 fastest.

NI Commonwealth Games Bronze Medallist, Leon Reid was first to take to the track in heat 5 and finished in 5th place in a time of 6.75. Unfortunately this was not enough to progress to the semi-finals in Reid’s first European Indoor Championship, however Reid’s attention will now turn to the outdoor season and Olympic Qualification.

Irish Indoor 60m Champion, Dean Adams ran in the final 60m heat, crossing the line in 7th place in a time of 6.89. Having hit his PB last year and now competing at his first European Indoors, at the age of 30, will no doubt motivate the next generation of aspiring sprinters.
