Letterkenny AC’s Ann-Marie McGlynn set a new Course Record at Saturday’s Podium 4 Sport Seeley Cup with a time of 33:41. The Willowfield Harriers organised event is in its 38th year, starting along the Ormeau Embankment, before finishing in Ormeau Park.

The weather managed to stay dry, making for good road running conditions. Ann-Marie’s course record surpassed the previous record, which was set in 1989 by Theresa Duffy (Beechmount Harriers) in a time of 33:43. Ann-Marie has had 6 PBs in the past year, including the new NI Marathon record of 2:32.54 set at the recent Dublin Marathon.

McGlynn strode into the finish line ahead of team mate Nakita Burke in 2nd place in a time of 34:37. In 3rd place was North Down AC’s Jessica Craig in 35:14, followed by teammate Rachel Gibson in 4th place in a time of 35:41.

North Down AC retained the Ladies Team title with a total of 24 points. They were followed by East Down AC in 2nd place with 33 points, while North Belfast Harriers came 3rd with 35 points.

Annadale Striders’ Conall Kirk came in 3rd after a sprint to the line to finish in 30:42, ahead of James Edgar (City of Lisburn AC) in 4th place in 30:46.

The North Belfast Harriers men won the team event in 158 points, with Acorns AC in 2nd with 229 and Annadale Striders in 3rd place with 259 points.
