Armagh International Road Race 2026

Armagh AC hosted the thirty fourth edition of the Armagh International Road Races on the night of Thursday 12th of February. Cold blustery conditions did not deter from what proved to be an historic night for Northern Irish Endurance running.

The women’s 3k started the international program and it did not disappoint. Emily Haggard Kearney (North Belfast Harriers) had a convincing win in 9.07. She took the lead with two kilometres to go and was never challenged, winning by five seconds from Ireland’s Danielle Donegan. The NI and Ulster team ran well to finish third in the international team standings.

In the men’s international 5k race, there were still ten men in contention with one kilometre to go. Nick Griggs (CNDR) hit the front down the last straight, closely followed by teammate Callum Morgan (CNDR). Nick took the win in 13.37, with Callum third in 13.39. Lughaidh Mallon (UCD) had a breakthrough performance finishing 7th in a massive pb of 13.45. The NI and Ulster men’s team claimed their first ever win in the international team race from a very strong Swedish team.

Nick was the first NI winner since Bobby Farren way back in 1992 and alongside Emily, they were the first in the event’s history to complete a double victory for Northern Ireland.
