Athletics NI Winter Workshop Series – Workshop 1 Announced!

Workshop 1: Nutrition – Fuelling for Performance & Recovery
with Catherine Culbert (The Sporty Dietitian)

Catherine is a Registered Dietitian, Yoga Teacher and Personal Trainer with over 10 years’ experience in the nutrition field. She specialises in sports nutrition and women’s health, supporting individuals to build a positive, balanced relationship with food.

Whether you’re aiming to fuel performance, optimise recovery, improve your health, or feel more confident in your body, Catherine brings a compassionate, evidence-based approach that goes far beyond what’s on your plate.

Athletics NI are delighted to present the second workshop in our Winter Workshop Series, designed to support athletes and coaches in key areas that truly influence performance, health, and long-term wellbeing.

Workshop 2: Mastering Midlife
How to Train as an Endurance Runner from 5k to Marathon / Menopause – Understanding & Adapting Training Through Life’s Changes
with Irene Clarke (@menopause_coach_irene)

Irene Clarke is a sports educator and coach with a background in sports science, specialising in menopause, endurance performance, and participation sports. She works with women of all levels - from recreational runners to competitive athletes - supporting them through the unique challenges of training during the menopause years.

Drawing on extensive research, professional expertise, and lived experience, Irene has developed a deep understanding of midlife physiology and how women can adapt training to thrive during this stage of life.

In collaboration with Athletics Ireland, she developed and delivered the nationally recognised Mastering Midlife workshop - the first menopause-specific programme created by a National Governing Body in Ireland. It has empowered over 7,500 women to date.

Irene is also the founder of the hugely successful Reset Your Running programme and Mastering the Marathon in Midlife, Ireland’s only menopause-specific marathon training programme.

Athletics NI are delighted to introduce the third workshop in our Winter Workshop Series, supporting athletes and coaches in key areas that genuinely impact performance, confidence and long-term wellbeing.

Workshop 3: Female Pelvic Health – Confidence, Control & Long-Term Strength with Gráinne Donnelly

Gráinne Donnelly is an Advanced Practice Pelvic Health Physiotherapist, a Doctoral Researcher at Cardiff Metropolitan University, and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Pelvic, Obstetric and Gynaecological Physiotherapy. She also sits on the Board of Trustees for the POGP Charitable Body and on the Scientific Advisory Board for the Active Pregnancy Foundation.

This workshop aims to raise awareness and understanding of pelvic floor health—what’s normal, how it works, and what to do when something doesn’t feel right. Attendees will learn about common pelvic floor issues, contributing factors, and practical strategies that athletes and coaches can apply straight away.
