Athletics NI seeks new Treasurer for Board

Athletics Northern Ireland has launched a recruitment drive to appoint an Independent Board Member to serve as Treasurer, as the governing body continues its work developing and promoting the sport across the region.

Athletics NI works in partnership with UK Athletics and the other home country associations to deliver events, coaching and education programmes, performance pathways, anti-doping initiatives, integrity policies and membership services.

The successful candidate will join the board in a voluntary, unpaid role and will play a key part in advising on the organisation’s financial strategy. The Treasurer will oversee budgets, accounts and financial statements, ensure appropriate accounting procedures are in place, and support the organisation’s long-term financial planning and governance.

Athletics NI is seeking a qualified accountant or someone with at least five years’ experience managing a finance function. Candidates should also demonstrate senior leadership experience, strategic thinking, and a strong commitment to the growth of athletics in Northern Ireland.

The position carries an initial four-year term, renewable for a further four years subject to performance and board approval. Monthly board meetings and occasional committee or event attendance are expected, either in Belfast or remotely.

Applications are open until Friday 20 February at 12 noon. Full details of the role, criteria and application process are available at: https://athleticsni.org/About/Job-Opportunities
