Athletics Wins Three Sport NI SportMaker Awards

Athletics Northern Ireland are delighted to announce that three of our members were recognized for their contribution to the sport of athletics by the Sport NI Sportmaker awards programmes.

The SportMaker Awards recognize the outstanding contribution of coaches, officials, volunteers and projects over the previous 12 months and the vital role they play in supporting, developing and encouraging people to benefit from the power of sport.

Community Coach of the Year- Aidan O’Neill

“Aidan, your strength, courage and determination is unbelievable. It is phenomenal over the years what you have overcome to build the running community in Crumlin. You are an inspiration to us all!”

Performance Pathway Coach of the Year- Mark Kirk

“Mark coached Nick Griggs to a European Indoor Mile Record and freely gives of his time to mentor & support many other junior endurance coaches in Northern Ireland”

Technical Official of the Year- Liz Glover

“Liz is a stalwart of officiating for Athletics NI, giving up many hours to help & assist with competitions, and to encourage others to get involved. Her professionalism and calm presence is an inspiration to others”.

We also like to congratulate all of those who were nominated for the awards this year. The ongoing work of our coaches, officials and volunteers is vital to the continuation of the sport of Athletics.
