Carson, Irwin & McCartney Shine at Loughborough International

NI athletes competed among the best at the recent Loughborough International on Sunday (21^st May). The competitor list was made up of high-level athletes from all over the UK and Ireland, including World Championship and Commonwealth Games Heptathlon Champion, Katharina Johnson-Thompson.

NI Commonwealth Games athlete, Hannah Irwin (Cambridge & Coleridge AC) and U23 GB & NI team medallist at the 2022 European Cross Country Championships, Grace Carson (Mid Ulster AC) were competing in the 3000m. Both NI athletes worked together with Hannah narrowly beating Grace to the line. Hannah ran 9:19.69 (PB) in 6^th place with Grace running 9:20.55 (PB) in 7^th place.

In the Women’s Pole Vault, NI Commonwealth Games athlete, Ellie McCartney, jumped 4.00m placing her 5^th. Fantastic performance from the City of Lisburn athlete in her second outdoor competition of the season.
