Davicia Patterson Gains New Irish 400m Record

Beechmount Harriers’ Davicia Patterson had a superb weekend at the Geneva International, where she took on a high quality field in the 400m to beat her own NI & Ireland Junior Records with a time of 52.27secs.

Davicia is now 5th in the Irish All Time List and the current fastest U20 European in the 400m distance. This puts her in good contention for medals at the upcoming European U20 Championships in Sweden, joining fellow NI & Ulster Athletes, Aaron Sexton (North Down AC); Sommer Lecky (Finn Valley AC) and Kate O’Connor (Dundalk St Gerards).

North Down's Aaron Sexton tops the European U20 200m list, after gaining the Irish Schools title recently. Finn Valley AC’s Sommer Lecky is currently 4th U20 in the High Jump, while fellow Commonwealth Games athlete Kate O'Connor is 3rd in the Heptathalon following her recent Irish record of 5,881 points.

City of Lisburn AC’s Ellen McCarthy cleared 3.80m in the Pole Vault at the Geneva meet, while Ballymena & Antrim AC’s Craig Newell was 7th in the 400m event in a time of 48.26s.
