Elaine Grant Appointed CEO of Athletics Northern Ireland

Athletics NI are delighted to announce the appointment of Elaine Grant as new CEO. Elaine will join the organisation on 3rd May 2022 after 8 years with Sport NI.

Elaine said “I am extremely proud of how our Athletics Community has carried the Sport through the pandemic and we have grown in resilience and motivation as a result.  I am delighted and extremely honoured to be given the opportunity to lead the Sport I know and love onto future success at all levels through co-design of a reinvigorated strategy that works for the whole of the Sport of Athletics here in Northern Ireland.”

Elaine’s role as Lead Officer for Pathways & People Development at Sport NI saw her co-develop the UK Pathway Development Framework alongside her Home Country & UK Sport colleagues and subsequently develop the Sport NI Pathway Health Check. Elaine also lead the Sport NI arm of the first UK Talent & High Performance Pathways Inclusion Research Project which is due for release in the Spring. 

Elaine brings to the role great first hand knowledge of the sport as a currently active coach, previously as an senior coach at Athletics NI, coach for Northern Ireland at the Commonwealth Games,  and as an athlete competing at Commonwealth Youth Games, World University Games, European Cup and European Club Championships as well as being part of an Irish National Record in the Women’s 4x400m relay at the European Cup in Prague in 2006.
