Final Day for National Indoor Age Group Championships

Northern Ireland & Ulster athletes travelled to the AIT, Athlone on Saturday 6th April 2019 for the last day of the Irish Life Health Indoor Age Group National Championships. Day 3 consisted of four athletic disciplines: 4x200m Relays, Triple Jump, Long Jump and Shot Put.

In the U15 Boys Relays 1st place went to the Finn Valley AC team of Blaine Lynch, Bobby Hennigan, Conor Murphy, Daniel McHugh, while 3rd place went to the Shercock AC team of Gearoid Lynch, Mark Cassidy, Shane Mulligan and Noah O’Sullivan.

Orangegrove AC won a triumphant 3rd place in the U18 Boys with a team of Rory Carson, Adam Sykes, Nathan Stewart and Joseph McNaughten.

In the Triple Jump, Christopher Kearns (Finn Valley AC) won 1st place in the U18 Boys, clearing 12.11m, while teammates Lauren Callaghan won 1st in the U18 Girls, clearing 10.99m and Michaela Byrne took 3rd place, clearing 10.40m. Fellow Finn Valley athlete, Aine Kerr took 2nd place in the U19 Girls with her jump of 10.58m.

City of Lisburn AC’s Joshua Knox cleared 12.73m in the U18 Boys Triple Jump to take 3rd place while in the Long Jump, North Down AC’s Niamh Fenlon cleared 4.83m in the U15 Girls to claim 2nd place. Ross Henderson (Lifford Strabane AC) took 2nd place in the U17 Boys Shot Put with a throw of 12.20m.
