Four NI Athletes Selected for European Indoor Championships
26 February 2025

Congratulations to the four athletes, and their coaches, selected for the European Athletics Indoor Championships taking place in Apeldoorn, Netherlands between 6-9 March.
2024 Olympic top 16 performer Kate O’Connor is one of the headline athletes selected on the Irish team for these championships and following her huge NI and Irish Pentathlon record in Tallinn last month, she will be looking to improve on her 9th place performance in Istanbul which was the 2023 edition of these championships.
Conor Kelly and Rachel McCann, fresh from strong performances at the Irish Championships last weekend, have been selected for the Mixed 4x400m Relay with Rachel also selected onto the Women’s 4x400m team. Both teams will be hopeful of springing a surprise and getting close to medal contention despite missing one or two key squad members.
James Gormley who missed out on winning the Irish championships by 0.01 in a tactical race at the weekend was selected for 3000m due to achieving the A standard earlier in the season and makes his debut for Ireland at these championships.
