Gemili and Smyth Compete in Mens 200m at Belfast International

Athletics NI announce the start lists for the Men’s 200m and 100m at the Belfast International EAP Meet on Thursday 1st August 2019.
Commonwealth Games Athlete and Paralympian, Jason Smyth (Derry Track Club/ NI) will compete against Great Britain’s Adam Gemili, the 2014 European Champion for the 200m and the 4x100m relays.
Jason Smyth currently holds the T13 World Records in the 100m and 200m events and has won gold at three Paralympics: 2008 in Beijing in the 100m and 200m; 2012 in London in the 100m and 200m and finally in 2016 in Rio De Janeiro in the 100m.
Adam Gemili has a 200m PB of 19.97s and was part of the gold winning 2017 World Championship 4x100m Relay team.
2014 European Champion for the 200m and 4x100 Relays, Adam Gemili will be joining his GB team mate. Adam has a 200m PB of 19.97s and was part of the gold winning 2017 World Championship 4x100m Relay team.
Leon Reid, Northern Ireland's Bronze Medalist from the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games will join the men on the start line.
Also toeing the start line will be Ireland’s Marcus Lawler, who has represented his country at two Senior European Championships and gained a bronze medal at the recent Summer Universiade in Naples Italy. He currently holds a PB of 20.40s and will be joined by Stephen Gaffney (Ireland) who holds a 20.39s PB time. Stephen recently came 1st in the 200m and 100m Finals of the IMC Meet Greystones on 4th May 2019.
Eanna Madden (Ireland) holds a current PB of 21.03s, with a season’s best of 21.25s from Sheffield on 6th July 2019.
Great Britain's Fred Afrifa will join the start line after recently competing at the Loughborough International on 19th May in the 200m where he came 4th in Race 5 in a time of 21.76s (PB: 21.46s).

Jason Smyth will also be competing in the Men’s 100m event where they will be joined by Scottish trio Adam Thomas (PB: 10.23), Michael Olsen (PB: 10.35) and Cameron Tindle (PB: 10.42).
Northern Ireland and Ulster’s Dean Adams (Ballymena & Antrim AC) and Louis Albrow (North Down AC) will also be competing, along with Kashif Taiyebi (UAE/ QUB AC).
