Gold for Nick Griggs at European U20 Championships

Mid Ulster AC's Nick Griggs (Coach: Barrie Holmes) won gold at the European U20 Championships in Tallinn earlier this evening, in the Men's 3,000m Final.
The 16 year old looked comfortable over the distance, racing from the front for the majority of the tactical race, breaking away with a smaller pack with 5 laps to go.
Nick took control over the last 200m and looked very much in control as he crossed the finish line in 8:17.18 to claim gold in the near-30 degree heat.
This added to Ireland's impressive medal haul, with 4 gold medals in the last three days, as they currently sit at the top of the 2021 European U20 Championship medal table.
