Junior stars secure medals at UK Schools Games

Four junior stars picked up five medals between them as Northern Ireland's up and coming athletes impressed at the UK School Games at Loughborough University in England (Friday 31st August - Saturday 1st September 2018).
T38 athlete Eve Walsh-Dann (North Down AC / Roger Sexton) continued her recent good form as she collected two gold medals. Eve recorded a personal best of 14.54 (+0.4) on her way to victory in the 100m. The Great Britain & Northern Ireland international then followed this up with 30.98 (+2.8) for gold in the 200m.
There was a personal best and bronze medal for City of Lisburn's Jordan Cunningham in the Long Jump. Jordan, a member of Athletics NI's Youth Academy, leaped to 6.70m, a significant lifetime best.
North Down AC's Rachel McCann (Michael Roberts) ran her second quickest ever time over 300m as she secured a bronze medal in 39.98.
In the 80m hurdles, Holly Mulholland (City of Lisburn AC / Sue Mulholland) picked up a bronze medal after impressing with an 11.45 (+2.6) finish.
The UK School Games provided the Northern Ireland team with valuable experience as they progress through Athlete Development Pathway towards senior competition. Full results for the event are available HERE.
